Reviews

‘From Whence I came – the Kennedy legacy, Ireland and America is a compendium of essays that ruminate about the issues thrown up for both the US and Ireland due to the influence of the Kennedy political family. The Kennedy election as President ushered in a new era of professional politics with the emphasis on TV, advertising and the inevitable arrival of big money for ever grander political campaigns. For the political nerds the most compelling essay is by one of the book’s editors Donnacha Ó Beacháin which deals with the many elections JFK fought. In effect it is the story of how Joe Kennedy, one of the richest men in the world at the time, bought his son’s way into the Congress, Senate and Presidency of the USA.’

Conor Lenihan (Minister, 2004-2011), The Village Magazine, July 2021.

“Some contributions are absorbing, some are populist and some feel like an invitation to pop out the back for a chat. In other words the randomness is all part of the appeal [of] this entertaining book”

Andrew Lynch, Sunday Business Post, April 2021

“this insightful selection of writings of high quality and calibre … Tales of Irish and American history, the Kennedys, and many other interwoven episodes … are contained within these timely, absorbing pages”

Mary O’Rourke (Minister 1987-1994, 1997-2002), Irish Independent, March 2021
